Creating artwork for wallpaper
After looking at a range of different inspirations and repeat patterns I was able to progress further towards final designs. To create these designs I felt it would be great to use assets from the existing artworks, to make the collection feel cohesive.
All designs made were created using Adobe Illustrator using the pattern tool. This made the designs much easier as it automatically made it seamless and there was no need to keep messing around with cutting the design and trying to fit it together.
The first one seen below features elements from the greenhouse illustration. I decided to use these to create a tropical feel inspired by the palm house. I felt it was important to create designs inspired by the already existing products and ideas. I do really like this design and think the background colour works great with the green as it really pushes it forward.
The second design create was inspired by the cacti from the Princess of Wales Conservatory. I really liked the products with this design and therefore, really wanted to include it as a wallpaper. During the design process I was able to choose between different layouts, including half drop, standard repeat and brick. For this design I chose a vertical brick repeat and think it really works making it look cohesive and not too repetitive. I wanted to experiment with the mint green colour from the greenhouse design. Again this was another idea to make it all work together as a collection.
I did really like the design above however, I felt with a darker navy it could really make the greens pop and create that contrast that draws someone in. I also like the idea of the darker navy as it is a very current trend within homes right now.
Overall I really like the different wallpaper designs and think they all work in their own ways. However, for the collection i think it would be best to have the bottom design to create a balance for the display at the exhibition.
