Project three-repeat pattern experimentation
After doing some research into repeat patterns and looking at different way for me to create them I decided to experiment and have a go for myself. For this I decided to simply use procreate and followed an online tutorial which involves cropping and moving the tiles to help the pattern sit perfectly.
Below shows the inspiration for my project, which is inspired by the desert zone from Princess of Wales conservatory in Kew. Therefore, this involved lots of cacti and succulents.
Here below shows the design I created using procreate. I experimented with using both details drawings and linework. I really liked the pattern, and felt the process was really easy for a standard repeat. However, when it comes to creating other types of pattern such as half drop and brick. This is a lot more complicated and therefore would like to push forward and begin using Adobe Illustrator. This should be a much easier process as it will calculate the repeat for me.
I also am not sure on this pattern completely, I don't think the pale pink linework particularly works and just falls into the white background making the green feel quite uneven. This is obviously something that can be fixed and was good to experiment with in the mean time.
