Project three-Initial drawings

After deciding on my project I wanted to get back into the style of botanical illustration and decided to have a play around with some different brushes and styles including a bit more of a realistic traditional approach. 

 Above shows these initial sketches in which I captured a few different plants. It was nice to have this time to experiment with the idea and get back into a style which I hadn't touched in a while. I particularly liked the smoother blend underneath with the pencil edges and pattern specifically on the bunny cactus in the top right corner and also the orange. I think the pencil adds the detail and defines the plant a bit more whilst the blend underneath creates a sense of light and realism.
